Attendance Policy

The attendance policy for high school students in Jefferson County is as follows:

  • Having more than eight (8) absences for any reason in one semester block will result in loss of credit.  Each class stands on its own.

Students that exceed the allowed number of absences can be referred to the Jefferson County Disciplinary Tribunal.  Excessive absences for extended illnesses or extenuating circumstances may be referred to the Jefferson County Board of Education for possible waiver.  If for any reason these excessive absences are not waived, they will cause students to not receive credit for the class(es) involved.

For perfect attendance a student must be present at school all day, every day for the entire school year.

Note:  If a student is more than 25 minutes late for a class, he or she will be considered absent from that class.
